We want everyone in our communities to have good health and we plan to tackle the social and structural barriers that can get in the way
Set up in 2020 following unprecedented demands on our health services during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mersey Cares is the Mersey Care NHS Charity that plays a vital and growing role in working alongside the Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to serve the health needs of our communities; helping people of all ages live healthier lives.
Our Purpose
We exist to work in partnership with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to provide the very best possible life-long care in physical health, mental health, learning disabilities and addictions services; beyond what the NHS alone can provide; helping people of all ages live healthier lives.
Together enhancing life-long health, care and wellbeing support
Funding projects that improve care and facilities for patients and communities across Cheshire and Merseyside, we work alongside our staff to prioritise where funds are needed most; ensuring community initiatives are given a greater chance of thriving. Together, we believe we can enhance and exceed expectations of the health, care and wellbeing available to the people we serve; helping the NHS go further.
Our vision is to enhance support to services wherever possible, beyond the scope of usual NHS funding, in support of MCFT to lead the way in perfect, whole person care that helps people of all ages live healthier lives.
We empower people and services to transcend traditional boundaries, fostering innovative projects, preventative approaches, and developments that transform the lives and experiences of service users, patients, staff, volunteers, and carers.
Mersey Cares supports a better tomorrow for our communities across Merseyside and Cheshire. We challenge stigma around mental health, champion equality, and bring hope to create positive, lasting change beyond the scope of the NHS.
Funding allows us to introduce new projects, enhance services and access advanced equipment or resources to do more good
The charity has funded a support group for Young Onset Dementia, implemented patients’ sensory gardens and rooms and enabled interactive workshops to create space for children and young people to write about their experiences after COVID-19.
