Put your best foot forward for Mersey Cares' Christmas Socks Day!

20 November 2025

Help us raise festive funds to support people accessing mental health and community services beyond the limitations of NHS funding

Festive Sock Day (7).pngJoin Christmas Socks Day and Support Mersey Care’s NHS Charity!

This Christmas, Mersey Care Charity is inviting the community to take part in our first-ever Christmas Socks Day — a fun, inclusive, and affordable way to spread joy while supporting our hospitals, services, and NHS teams.

Not everyone working across Mersey Care can wear Christmas jumpers, especially in clinical settings — but almost everyone can wear festive socks! So we’re asking our communities, schools, workplaces, and families to support us in showing off their most colourful seasonal socks in support of our NHS.

Festive socks are a low-cost alternative to Christmas jumpers, making it easier for everyone to take part and show support.

How to get involved

  • Simply wear your favourite festive socks to work, school or around the house on Thursday 11th December.
  • Contribute a small donation (a suggested amount is £2)
  • Collect any donations from your friends and family
  • Please share your photos with us, tagging us on social media @merseycares using the hashtag #SocksForMerseyCares and #SockItForCharity.  You can also email them to us charity@merseycare.nhs.uk - we would love to see them!

Why Your Support Matters

Mersey Cares Impact Report 2024 to 2025By joining Christmas Sock Day, you’ll help fund projects that lie beyond the scope of standard NHS budgets but make a huge difference to real people every day. Your generosity could help provide:

  • Resources for suicide awareness and prevention

  • Sensory equipment to support children during therapy sessions

  • Restorative outdoor spaces that promote healing and well-being

  • Care packages for children arriving in care

  • Support and resources for people living with dementia and their families

These funds help enhance patient care and staff wellbeing across Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, improving health outcomes and experiences for our communities.

About Mersey Care’s NHS Charity

Mersey Care Charity is one of 230 NHS charities across the UK working to improve health, reduce inequalities, and remove barriers to care. We exist to bring life-changing projects to Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust that support patients, service users, carers, staff, and volunteers across Merseyside.

We rely on donations and fundraising to provide support over and above what the NHS alone can offer — and together, we can make a meaningful difference.
