We’re so pleased to share a lovely story of local young people wanting to support others this Easter
The 7F (1st City of Liverpool) Squadron Cadets supported our annual Easter Egg Appeal by collecting Easter Eggs and gifts for children in care who might not otherwise receive a treat.
The group were inspired by a shared wish to brighten the lives of young people in the local area—particularly those who may not always experience the joy and excitement that many associate with the Easter holidays.
Over the past few weeks, the cadets reached out to friends, family, and colleagues, collecting a fantastic number of chocolate eggs, gifts, and treats. Not only did they gather Easter goodies for children in care, but they also personally delivered them to Norris Green Family Health Clinic in Liverpool, where they had the opportunity to meet the Children in Care team.

Speaking about the fundraiser, Jess Roden, who accompanied RAF cadets, Charlotte, Sam, Alfie and Oliver (pictured) to drop off the eggs said:
“The cadets wanted to do something kind for children in care across the Liverpool area. Being young people themselves, they felt it was really important that every child gets to enjoy something special, so they set out to help make sure each child received an Easter egg.
“The cadets were warmly welcomed by the Liverpool Children in Care team and got the chance to ask questions and learn more about how their donations will make a difference,” said Jess. “They also said they’re looking forward to organising more donations around Christmas time to support the Secret Santa Appeal."

“It was absolutely lovely meeting everyone and the number of eggs and gifts we received was fantastic! We really appreciate everything so much and our young people will be so made up with an Easter egg, as it could be the only one they receive.”
Delivery ahead of Easter
The Mersey Cares Easter Bunny is now busy supporting our Children in Care Teams to distribute donated eggs to children in care across the area, bringing smiles and a moment of kindness to those who need it most. Our Easter Egg Appeal is the perfect example of the positive impact that small gestures can have on others facing challenging circumstances.
A big thankâyou to everyone who donated, shared the appeal, or supported the Cadets and others along the way. Together, you’ve helped make Easter a little brighter for children in our community.
Our ongoing appeal for Children in Care
If you didn't have the chance to donate an egg but would like to further support children in care, our ongoing Give a Gift to a Child in Care appeal raises funds to provide essential wellbeing items to children arriving in care, such as toothbrushes, sanitary products, and toiletries, along with comforting gifts like dressing gowns and slippers in personalised welcome packages. The appeal also allows us to continue supporting young people as they approach adulthood.
Thank you so much for your kindness - we couldn't do what we do without your support
