To celebrate 25 years of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust we've set an ambitious fundraising target - can you help us get there?
Celebrating 25 Years of Mersey Care
In 2026, Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust reaches an incredible milestone – 25 years of caring for communities. It’s a moment to reflect on how far the Trust has come, to celebrate the people at the heart of its services, and to look ahead to the difference we can continue to make together.
As Mersey Care’s dedicated charity, we’re proud to be marking this anniversary in a meaningful way – by turning celebration into impact and using this milestone to help transform care beyond what NHS funding alone can provide -- with a £25,000 fundraising target!
25 years of services supporting service users and patients
What began in 2001 as a reorganisation of local NHS services has grown into a Trust providing physical and mental health care to around 1.4 million people across the North West – and beyond. Over the past quarter of a century, Mersey Care has expanded its services, its reach and its ambition, while always keeping patients, service users, carers and communities at the heart of everything it does.
Our charity became part of the Mersey Care story in 2020, established initially to help support unprecedented pressures on health services during the COVID‑19 pandemic. In 2023 our charity team was formed to continue and grow this vital role, working alongside the Trust to support health and wellbeing in ways that go beyond typical NHS funding.
From small but powerful ‘extras’ that can mean the world to someone facing challenging circumstances, to larger projects that enhance care environments, experiences and wellbeing, using this 25‑year milestone to shape our fundraising felt like the perfect way to celebrate.

Our 2026 Goal: Raising £25,000 to support even more people
To honour Mersey Care’s 25th birthday, we’ve set an ambitious fundraising target of £25,000 through events and challenges in 2026.
Reaching this goal will allow us to fund more projects, helping to bring to life ideas that make a real, lasting difference for people receiving care from Mersey Care. The funds raised help provide those vital ‘extras’ – the improvements, comforts and opportunities that enhance experiences, support recovery and show compassion when it matters most.
Whether it’s a physical challenge, a fun team event or a once‑in‑a‑lifetime experience, every participant signing up to a fundraising event plays a vital role in helping us turn this milestone into meaningful change.
We’re looking to supersize our flagship events: the NHS Big Tea and Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge this year to mark 25 years of Mersey Care.
NHS Big Tea 2026 – Mersey Care Birthday Special! (July 5 2026)
Join our NHS Big Tea event in July – celebrating 78 years of the NHS and Mersey Care’s 25th anniversary. We’re inviting the community to join the party by hosting an NHS tea party event and helping us raise funds to support our projects which benefit people accessing mental health and community services across the region.
Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge (5 September 2026)
To mark this special anniversary, we’re setting our sights on making our flagship walking challenge out biggest event yet, with a target of 25 participants taking on the challenge!
This iconic challenge follows a historic route through the Yorkshire Dales, taking approximately 12 hours to complete and offering breathtaking scenery along the way. Participants will be fully supported by Overlimits, an experienced guiding team who provide support from preparation (with optional free practice walks), right through to the day itself – walking alongside participants every step of the journey.
If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, there’s never been a better time. Help us celebrate Mersey Care’s 25th birthday, support life‑enhancing projects, and be part of a milestone year that furthers our reach and makes a real lasting difference across local communities who need our support.
Together, we can make this anniversary one to remember!
