We're looking for 100 Mersey Cares Santas to join us for the BTR Liverpool Santa Dash!
Christmas is a season of kindness, community and giving back. What better way to celebrate than by pulling on a Santa suit, enjoying a fun-filled day with colleagues, friends and family, and helping to make a lasting difference for the patients and service users who access our services?
This year, we're on a mission to recruit 100 Mersey Cares Santas to take part in the iconic BTR Liverpool Santa Dash on Sunday 6 December 2026. Whether you walk, jog, run or skip the 5K route, you'll be joining a group of Mersey Cares Santas united behind making a real difference to patients, service users, carers, volunteers and the hardworking NHS staff we support.
Every Santa who signs up will help raise valuable funds for projects that go beyond what NHS funding alone can provide, creating opportunities, experiences and enhancements that improve wellbeing, recovery and the lives of people across our communities.
Your support means so much
As Mersey Cares is still a relatively new charity (having recently celebrated our third birthday!), the Liverpool Santa Dash is a great opportunity to put Mersey Cares in the spotlight and raise awareness of the support we provide across Merseyside, Cheshire and areas of Lancashire. We are honoured to be one of just eight official BTR Liverpool charity partners on the day and would love you to be a part of it. If you have every received care from one of our hospitals or services and would like to support us to help others, or if you would like to say 'thank-you' for the care of a loved one -- we would love you to join us. It's bound to be such a fun day, and perfect for getting in the Christmas spirit - all whilst raising awareness and funds to support people across our communities.
Last year's atmosphere was electric, with the city coming alive to support great causes and get in the spirit of the season. With cheering crowds, celebrity appearances and festive entertainment, it's the perfect way to kick-start the Christmas festivities - while doing something amazing for others.
A Santa success story: Meet Thorn the willow Fox
If you need some inspiration, look no further than our fantastic colleagues at Halton CYPMHS.
They took part in the Santa Dash last year to fund a creative therapeutic project. Thanks to their festive efforts, they raised over £1,000! Over the summer, that money was put to incredible use when service users created a larger-than-life mascot for the service: a willow fox named Thorn.
The Halton team had a wonderful time and thoroughly recommend the experience to everyone. Because it is a 5K fun run, it is fully accessible to all ages and abilities – there is no pressure to finish in a certain time - and no elite running skills required!
Registration fee includes Santa suit, goody bag and finisher's medal!
