The event is a new one to our portfolio and is set to be an annual favourite!
The challenge was a true test of endurance for the seasoned fundraisers
Congratulations to Mersey Care’s Jenny and Michael for completing the 15k Inflatable Obstacle and raising valuable funds to support Children in Care services.
The Challenge on July 18 took place at Clay House Farm in Knutsford offering both 5K or 15K distances – with our two Mersey Care staff plumping for the tougher 15k challenge. Their mission was to navigate a 15k course with a series of giant inflatable obstacles in their path.
Laughing Therapy
Jenny Young, a Mersey Care Administrator who works across Children's Community Nursing in Knowsley, said:
“It was so much fun, we did nothing but laugh – were both still covered in bruises but it was worth it for the laughs.”
The majority of people on the day of the event were taking part in the 5k event, but always wanting to push themselves, the Children in Care superstars signed up to the more challenging 15k – a decision Jenny admits to questioning as they approached the starting line as the only two entrants.
“It was so challenging and I questioned my judgement of booking the15k - but we were so proud at the end of it and the volunteers were so supportive with us being in the minority with our blue 15k bibs.”
“We’re delighted to have taken part it was such a great day and raising money for Liverpool CIC was the cherry on the cake.”
Together they raised £358 for Children in Care services – adding to the many hundreds they have already raised between them over the past few years through events including the Liverpool Cathedral Abseil, Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, Mersey Tunnel 10k, Liverpool Santa Dash and more.
“Every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference and helps us continue supporting those who need it most,” said Michael Allcock, Named Nurse for Liverpool Children in Care who has raised over £1,000 for Mersey Cares through fundraising challenges.
“We are truly grateful for the generosity and encouragement we receive - thanks as always, for your support."
Indeed from all of us at Mersey Cares, thank you so much to everyone who supported Jenny and Michael’s fundraising – your kindness helps us to bring to life projects to support the Children in Care teams and make a difference to some of the most vulnerable children across the region. Their fundraising page is still active so if you'd like to celebrate their achievement with a donation you can still do so.
