Through our Secret Santa Appeal, Mersey Cares, the dedicated charity for Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust, is aiming to bring a moment of magic to children and young people supported by specialist mental health and community services.
Whether they are children in care, young carers, or young people accessing mental health services, some young people face challenges that no child should have to carry. For some families, Christmas is simply another pressure during an already difficult year.
That's where our Secret Santa Appeal makes a difference.
Unlike many Christmas appeals, the gifts provided through this campaign are carefully selected by our Children and Young People's teams, who know the children they support and understand what might make their Christmas feel a little brighter. From arts and crafts sets and sensory toys to books, games and gifts linked to a child's interests, presents have been chosen with thought and care.
In many cases, they're much more than just presents, though. They are opportunities to bring a smile, spark a moment of excitement and remind a child that they are valued.
The appeal supports children and young people across a wide range of services including Children in Care teams, CAMHS, Young Carers services, Family Nurse Partnership teams, Health Visiting services and specialist perinatal services across our region.
We recognise that times remain challenging for many people. The rising cost of everyday essentials continues to affect households across our communities, and we know that many families are carefully considering every pound they spend.
