Northern Lights Trek Challenge 2026
Join Global Adventures on this breathtaking adventure to explore Iceland and help us raise essential funds for the Zero Suicide Alliance - possibly experience the spectacular Northern Lights too! You'll spend 3 days trekking through beautiful mountain scenery, geothermal valleys and via picture-perfect lakes. The trek will be challenging; hiking across snow-covered landscapes and conquering local mountain passes. However, the chance of witnessing the dancing lights of the Aurora Borealis will hopefully make our efforts all worthwhile. You'll then celebrate our achievements in the bright lights of Reykjavík! Join other adventurers in the land of fire and ice on this memorable long weekend adventure!
What's included?
Inclusive of return flights from London to Keflavik and transfers, 4 nights accommodation and all meals on the trek, you will be supported by a local English speaking guide and Global Adventure Challenge leader from the UK; upon finishing you will receive a challenge medal.
Find out more about the experience by visiting Global Adventures.
Supporting Zero Suicide Alliance
Sadly, more than 6,000 people in the UK die by suicide every year. We want this to change as we believe one life lost to suicide is one too many. We want to empower, equip, and educate individuals and organisations to support suicide awareness and prevention through ZSA's free online training and resources.
We want to raise awareness of suicide, challenge stigma and make suicide prevention something everyone feels they can get involved in.
Funding in 2024 has already allowed our Mersey Care NHS Charity to launch the redevelopment of ZSA's Online Suicide Awareness Training - a short, free, online course that can be taken by anyone who wants to learn basic suicide awareness and prevention skills. Within the first month of launching, 20,000 people had already completed this training.
With your donations we can continue to deliver free, accessible training opportunities so more people can learn vital skills and confidence to talk to someone struggling with suicidal thoughts
By donating to our fund, you support this zero suicide ambition and help us to:
- Develop and deliver new training opportunities for targeted communities
- Help us to support people to recognise what action they can take to support suicide awareness and prevention
- Help us to continue our research, develop and maintain accessible digital suicide data tools
- Help us to keep the conversation going, sharing the knowledge and skills, and grow the nation’s confidence to talk about suicide and challenge stigma
Your support, big or small, helps make a difference.
The Zero Suicide Alliance is an initiative hosted by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and charitably funded via Mersey Cares NHS Charity (charity registration number: 1191576).
What’s the upfront cost?
Global Adventures ask you to pay a registration fee of £250 at the time of booking.
How much am I expected to fundraise?
Global Adventures ask you to raise a minimum of £3,590 by the 11 December 2025. This supports the full challenge cost with Global Adventures directly and raises essential funds for ZSA.
Upon gaining your sponsorship, the charity is then invoiced the full challenge experience amount (£1,795) and so all funds raised above £1,795 will be going directly to ZSA!
How do I set up a fundraising page?
You can simply set up your fundraising page here - this will set you up your own individual fundraising page in aid of ZSA and link you to the Global Adventures' Northern Light Trek Challenge; you are also able to join teams should you wish to do this challenge as a group. Although you can set up your very own Just Giving page too!
